You can send and receive encrypted files using ECG QuickConnect. Each contact sending or receiving encrypted files must be set up for encryption on the Contacts tab of ECG QuickConnect.
If a person selects the Decrypt Files Received check box when adding you as a contact, you receive an additional notification email indicating you can download the ECG QuickConnect PGP public key from the User Preferences subtab of the Home tab.
ECG QuickConnect is a secure file transfer solution. If you or a contact have business rules which require encryption, you can add encryption.
Encrypted files are secure because the file contents cannot be viewed until the file is decrypted using an encryption key. Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) encryption uses two keys, one public and one private, to encrypt and decrypt files. Contacts with a UHG or Optum email address use the UHG public key, which can be downloaded using ECG QuickConnect. Other contacts must provide their own public key.
The contact transferring the file must download the key from the User Preferences subtab of the Home tab and use that key to encrypt the file.
To have ECG QuickConnect decrypt files that have been encrypted using ECG QuickConnect's public key, you must select the Decrypt Files Received check box for the contact transferring the file. For a new contact, the Notification to Use ECG QuickConnect PGP public key is automatically selected. When you save the new contact, an additional notification email is sent with the instruction to download the ECG QuickConnect public key. If you are editing an existing contact, you can click Notify PartnerA partner is a type of contact. A partner has a name and an email address. to send the notification email.
